Kenya Topographic Atlas
Making national terrain explorable from Kenya to county level

A national terrain dataset made usable county by county
The Kenya Topographic Atlas turns Copernicus GLO-30 relief into an interactive public explorer for all 47 counties. It combines progressively loaded terrain with administrative boundaries, rivers, water bodies, place labels and contextual information in responsive light and dark interfaces.
National terrain data is large, technically demanding and difficult to interpret without specialist software. The product had to preserve spatial detail while remaining responsive and understandable on ordinary browsers and mobile devices.
We led GIS product design, terrain-data processing, cartographic interaction, responsive interface design and technical delivery.
- Structure the experience from national overview to county detail
- Process terrain into progressively loaded tiles and resolutions
- Layer administrative, hydrological and place information independently
- Expose data sources and credits inside the interface
- Interactive 3D terrain explorer
- 47-county navigation
- Administrative and hydrology layers
- Responsive light and dark interfaces
- Large GIS datasets translated into a public digital product
- Progressive loading designed around real browser constraints
- Cartography, interaction and data provenance handled as one system

Bring this capability to a live brief.
Public agencies, research teams and development programmes often need complex spatial evidence delivered through a browser rather than specialist GIS software. We design the data pipeline, map logic and public-facing experience as one product.
